Last Light Farms

Package: Rut Ready

Property Size: +/- 65 Acres

Strategic Improvements: Custom food plot installation, stand and blind installation, camera installation, trail system design and build

In the 2024 offseasons, the 402 Habitats team had the opportunity to turn a very raw piece property into a turnkey whitetail haven. This property offered a good amount bedding habitat for deer but lacked the means to access key locations. The team designed a strategic trail system to access blinds and stands without disrupting deer. The trail system also helped to funnel deer movement through thick habitat towards the Red Neck Blinds the team installed that summer. The combination of the peas and winter rye, planted in the late summer, proved to be a lethal attractant for the three mature bucks Charlie and his family harvested this season.

After strategic map analysis, the team decided to clear a food plot in an optimal funnel between bedding and feeding areas. Brassicas thrived in the plot and provided the herd with steady nutrients late into the season. The placement of a mock scrape and mineral sites created a welcoming communal area for the herd as well as provide trail camera photos. This fall, the hunter had a very successful season, harvesting two mature whitetail bucks.
